In an expanded version of GW2’s Sequence mode, you move through a series of levels that function as puzzles to be solved. The levels in between the boss levels are are also themed after the next boss level on the map, in the background and icon color. Geometry Wars 3 adds an additional adventure mode to this basic gameplay.Each Boss level is named after a specific gemstone, the background and level icon also feature the same color as the respective gem(e.g Emerald is green).They all scale in difficulty and receive more mobility the farther in the game the player progresses.Įach level has its own rules and loadouts, to learn more about a specific level, simply read its respective page. Keep in mind that in order to progress through the level, the player needs to destroy the boss, the score received at the end of the level only matters if the boss has been destroyed.Įvery boss has a move pattern unique to each level, and they generally have another unique feature in some way or another. ![]() After a few second the bar eventually resets and the shield is lowered, but during the time that the boss has the shield activated it is completely invulnerable.Įvery boss will need to have its health depleted about 5 times before the player destroys it, thereby winning the level. Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is a new evolution of the iconic, fast-paced and frenetic Geometry Wars shooter gameplay. The player is given a camera shot of the boss as soon as the level starts and there is a ticker at the top of the screen indicating its current health.Įvery boss has a special shield that they can activate as soon as its health is fully depleted. The main feature of the level is the eponymous Boss, a large enemy that sticks out due to its large size. The game takes place on a rectangular playfield and the player controls a claw-shaped 'ship' that can move in any direction using the left thumbstick, and can fire in any direction independently using the right thumbstick. Check out the video above.The player only has one life, bombs and supers are one each per level, with the exception of the two levels Topaz and Topaz(Hardcore), the loadout is instead 2 bombs and supers, and 3 bombs and no supers respectively. Fans of Geometry Wars 1 and 2 may find themselves instinctively looking for corners to lead errant enemies into to set up high-scoring opportunities, but the continuous nature of Dimensions’ playfields means veterans will need to readjust their habits accordingly. ![]() ![]() The level I played was shaped like a peanut: two spheres connected by a flared, narrow bridge. “Geometry Wars” has never been more apt as a title, featuring three-dimensional geometric battlefields that bend and flex under the force of your shape-shattering armaments. It’s not easy to live up to the Geometry Wars pedigree, but a recent hands-on run of one of the game’s earlier stages was all the assurance I needed that the spirit of Geometry Wars is thriving, guided by the neon, wireframe hands of Lucid Games: a studio founded by former Bizarre Creations staffers. The storied Geometry Wars series is set to make its long-awaited return (and its PlayStation debut) this Autumn as Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions, released under the reawakened Sierra brand.
